Rise Chair vs. MotionGrey Chair: A Comparative Review
As a follow up to our previous post on the pros and cons of the Rise Chair, this time we are doing a comparative review between the said chair and the MotionGrey Ergonomic Chair.
When shopping for a new ergonomic office chair, there are several factors to think about according to what you consider most important to you. For most people, the most important is the capability of the chair to support the user’s entire weight no matter what sitting position he is in. However, apart from this, some users also look into the adjustability of the different chair parts, the material the chair is made of, as well as the color and design. Let’s take a look at these as we review the Rise Chair and the MotionGrey Chair.
Comparing the Rise Chair and the MotionGrey Chair
For this specific review, we are comparing the Rise Ergo Chair (black) and the MotionGrey Skymesh Office Chair, which is comparable to the former in terms of weight capacity. So, let’s take a look!
Rise Chair vs. MotionGrey Chair: Weight Capacity
The Rise Ergo Chair has a weight capacity of 350lbs, which is one of the higher load capacities for ergonomic chair in Canada. Meanwhile, the MotionGrey Skymesh Chair follows closely at ~330 lbs.
In terms of capability, this means both chairs can handle different types of users, including those who are a bit heavier and larger. This is important for optimal sitting comfort, especially during times when you need to spend long hours in the chair.
Rise Chair vs. MotionGrey Chair: Lumbar Support
The lumbar support of the Rise Chair features both vertical and horizontal adjustment—up to 2” inward adjustment and up to 2” adjustment vertically. Meanwhile, the MotionGrey Office Chair boasts of an easy-to-adjust lumbar pillow that can be moved up and down smoothly with an easy-to-grip lever.
Both chairs have sufficient lumbar tilt range that makes them great for both work and rest. The Rise Chair can recline up to 40 degrees. Meanwhile, the MotionGrey Chair allows up to 145 degrees of recline. This helps in relieving pressure from the spine and shoulders, allowing users to take a break once in a while.
Rise Chair vs. MotionGrey Chair: Armrest and Headrest
Both the Rise Chair and MotionGrey Chair have height-adjustable armrests that allow the chairs to be customized according to your needs. Adjustment can be done via an easy-access button.
In terms of headrest, the Rise Ergo Chair features 3 notches that make it easy to adjust to achieve the desired height and tilt. Meanwhile, the MotionGrey SkyMesh Office Chair features up and down height adjustment as well as capability to adjust forward and backward, allowing the headrest to fully accommodate your head and fit your needs.
Rise Chair vs. MotionGrey Chair: Warranty and Price
In terms of warranty, the Rise Chair has longer coverage of 3 years compared to the 2 years coverage of the MotionGrey Chair.
However, in terms of price, the two has a big gap. The MotionGrey SkyMesh Office Chair is offered at about $275 CAD. The Rise Ergo Chair is so much more expensive at $445.
When it comes to choosing the right ergonomic office chair for you, consider the features that are most important to you and start there. Once you have noted the features, look into the chair’s price and see if the price matches the features you consider important. One thing to note is that you don’t really need to spend a ridiculous sum of money for a chair—there are chairs that carry the features you want and do not come at exorbitant prices.
