[Standing Desk Highlight] Rise Desk: Review of Features and Specifications
In our previous post, we did a comparative review of the MotionGrey Standing Desk and the Rise Desk. As a follow up on the post, we’re getting a closer look on the Rise Desk, review its features, and check the strengths and weaknesses of the desk to help buyers decide whether this desk is for them.
Rise Desk: An Overview
The Rise Desk is a mid-range standing desk that comes equipped with both basic features and extra features that add safety and ease of use to the desk. If is offered in two different sizes, Medium and Large, with the Medium option also available in a curved option.
The Basic Features
In this Rise Desk review, we’re starting with the basic features to see how it compares with most of the standing desks in the market. Take a look at the following:
- Motor: Dual
- Frame: Steel, three segmented design
- Table Top: MDF wood, offered in 5 different colors
- Height Range: 24” to 50”
- Weight Capacity: 260 lbs
- Speed: 1.5” per second
- Noise Level: 45 decibels
When it comes to the frame and the motor that supports it, Rise Desk does relatively well and is up to par with most standing desks in the market, including our Motion Series standing desks. In terms of the table top, the variety of available colors will definitely provide shoppers with the option to customize their space.
In terms of weight capacity, the Rise Desk comes out average, able to carry just a bit more weight than the Motion Series desks. It is also an ideal desk for taller users, with a height range up to as high as 50”. However, users on the shorter range may opt to go for another desk. This is where the MotionGrey standing desk excels, being able to cater to shorter users.
In terms of speed, the Rise Desk is in the mid-range, comparable to the speed of other desks. And while it has a decent noise level, users who are looking for virtually no noise may opt for other desks with lower than 45 decibels of noise. To compare, the Motion Series desk is at 40dB.
The Extra Features
In this Rise Desk review, we’d also like to highlight some of the extra technological features this standing desk is equipped with, all of which can be helpful in ensuring desk safety during use.
Anti-tilt and collision technology
If you unintentionally place your standing desk in a space that may have obstruction as it moves up, no worries—the desk is equipped with technology that allows it to sense obstruction and possible collision with an object. And when it does, the desk stops to avoid any untoward accident or damage.
Child lock safety
Imagine having kids in the house who might be curious about the desk and about the keypad you have in the desk. If the child plays with the keypad and accidentally triggers the desk to move up or down, this can be an accident risk, especially for an unsupervised child. Anticipating possibilities like this, the Rise Desk is equipped with a child lock safety feature that prevents the desk from responding when the feature is engages. Just activate the feature, and the desk—and your child—are safe.
Anti-fingerprint property
Cleaning the desk daily can be a hassle, and fingerprints are among the most common and most stubborn to clean up and remove. They may be small and may not cause any real damage, but they can be an eyesore. The Rise Desk table top is equipped with an anti-fingerprint property to keep the surface looking smooth and sleek.
Heat resistance
Working in an environment where temperatures go really high during certain times of the day? Prone to spilling your hot coffee on the desk? While it’s advisable to keep the desk in a room with average temperature, and to avoid spills as much as possible, the Rise Desk table top offers an extra layer of protection against heat. Still, make sure to practice proper care.
Rise Desk Review: Price and Warranty
The Rise Desk is offered with a 5-year warranty and is priced at a little less than a thousand dollars at $945. The warranty is average, although there are desks offered with a longer warranty coverage (the Motion Series standing desk comes with an 8-year warranty). The price is a bit in the higher range. To compare, the Motion Series standing desk is offered at half the price—$499.99.
So, if you want the extra technological features, you might consider the Rise Desk a good investment. However, if you are looking for more solid basic features at a lower cost (and maybe a longer warranty coverage), then you might opt to look for other options in the market. Whichever way you go, we hope you find the right standing desk for you.
